There are two architectural styles in Tiong Bahru. The pre-war flats were designed in the Art Deco style and the post-war flats (Singapore Improvement Trust aka HDB flats) were influenced by the Bauhaus architectural style.
I think its sad that the government has only designated the pre-war flats for conservation.
I find it interesting that the refurbished Tiong Bahru market was built with the Bauhaus style in mind.
